Zeppoli’s Story
Zeppoli’s is an Italian Restaurant & Wine shop located in Blacksburg Virginia. Owners, Cody Thompson and Chris Mullens create a homemade Italian menu paired with curated wines that are wonderful for dinner, or any event. We aspire to bring a cutting edge culinary experience, service and hospitality to Blacksburg.
Opened in October of 1996, the same week of National Pasta Day, Zeppoli’s owners wanted to create an Italian restaurant that featured something they felt was lacking in many of the chain-type restaurants – fresh, made from scratch, real Italian cuisine by using both traditional recipes and some of their own creations.
Drawing from recipes handed down by their Italian mothers and recipes created while working in other restaurants, they came up with a menu that features both traditional Italian foods and interesting and innovative dishes using favorite Italian ingredients.
Every dish of pasta, including the ravioli is made fresh at the restaurant, along with bread, soups, meatballs, sauces, and desserts. Shortly after opening, Zeppoli’s expanded its wine selections and opened a retail shop in the lobby of the restaurant. By offering its customers reasonably priced wines from around the world, they are able to truly enhance your dining experience.
Zeppoli’s is a proud member of the Montgomery County Chamber of Commerce which supports many charitable organizations in the area such as Special Olympics and the Knights of Columbus. You can find a gallery of local art on the walls of our restaurant, courtesy of the Blacksburg Art Association.
Today, Cody Thompson and Chris Mullens strive to continue the tradition of offering great food and wine. All while offering great prices, Zeppoli’s aims for quality, authenticity and creativity.
In 2017, Thompson and Mullens added a patio and expanded the catering and private event operations of the business. Now offering full service, off-site and on-site catering and accommodating event spaces for great local organizations, families and businesses.

Our team at Zeppoli’s is made up of friendly and dedicated workers who strive to bring our guests the best experience. We have adapted to regulations and impacts from the pandemic that include mandatory masks for our staff, regular hand washing, and social distancing.
We believe in supporting small, local businesses. That is why we team up with local businesses such as Blacksburg Bagels and Exper-t’s to bring our customers fresh breads and local merchandise. It is just as important to give back to those who support us. Look out for one of our benefits nights coming up where we support local and national organizations.
This is home. Being in the heart of Virginia Tech, we have the pleasure of catering football tailgates, serving VT sport teams, and hosting fundraisers for school clubs and organizations.
